Resumo: | ABSTRACT: Pollinating animals are fundamental components in terrestrial ecosystems and essential for the good performance of ecological services in natural and agricultural environments. The most harmful consequence of threats to biodiversity is undoubtedly the extinction of a species. Thus, it was necessary to know the perception of elementary school students about the importance of pollinating insects and the plants that attract them, passing information with emphasis on their conservation. The intervention was applied at the Maria Iraci Teofilo de Castro Municipal School of Basic Education - Taquarana, AL to 59 students, referring to two 6th grade classes. The action was developed through a lecture emphasizing awareness of the importance of conservation of pollinators and their habitats, together with a workshop of planting 150 seeds of floral plants. Before the information was passed on, the students' performance in answering the questionnaire was negative. The lack of knowledge of the students on the subject implies the triggering of serious problems, because, when the public does not know the problem in question, he becomes unable to solve or reduce it. There is a clear need to work with students on the importance of pollinators to natural ecosystems, as environmental education will only be effective if it gives students insight into the world around them, engaging them in a way that awakens them. a critical awareness that seeks solutions to the problem.
