The use of medicinal plants has been growing more and more among the Brazilian population, one of the reasons would be the fact that health services are unable to meet most communities, due to the large demand, and for many the only option for therapy is just the use of herbal medicines and for some people easy access. This study aimed to survey the medicinal plants used in the treatment of intestinal parasites in a community in the urban area of ​​the municipality of Santana do Ipanema/AL, the community has 646 families, of which 93 participated. families who used medicinal plants (herbal medicines) regardless of the purpose of use and the interview was conducted with residents aged 18 years or over and with sufficient cognitive capacity to answer the interview, whose questions included socioeconomic and cultural data; and information on the medicinal use of plants to combat intestinal parasites. Given the results obtained, it was observed that 100% of respondents use medicinal plants to treat various diseases, 47.3% of these said they use it to combat intestinal parasites. The most cited plants were mint (Mentha spicata) and mastrich (Chenopodium ambrosiodes L), the most used part was the leaf and the most frequent way of use in the form of tea or juice (juice). Thus, the data obtained show the importance of valuing the use of herbal medicines.
