Resumo: | ABSTRACT: Platelet donation by apheresis reduces the recipient's exposure to different donors by up to six times, which reduces the transfusion risk, prevents and controls hemorrhages. Objective of the study was to characterize the epidemiological profile and complications of platelet donors due to apheresis who are clinically able and unfit in a blood center in Alagoas. This is a documentary study. The sample was made up of fit and unfit apheresis platelet donors. Data were obtained from screening forms. The analysis made using descriptive statistics of absolute and relative frequency. These data were presented through tables, graphs and the discussion was carried out in the light of the specialized literature. Altogether there were 125 suitable donors totaling 198 donations and 59 unfit donors in 2018. 57 temporary unfit and 2 permanent unfit. There was a predominance of males. The age group with the highest occurrence was between 30 and 40 years old, the predominant ethnicity was Caucasian and the marital status was married, the blood type with the highest collection was O +. The most common temporary disability was influenza and the definitive HIV. The prevalent clinical complication was slow blood flow. Most of the analyzed literature also points out that these data are predominant. The percentage of disability was 47.2% of the total donation candidates. The donor profile was: male, 30-40 years old, Caucasian, O + type. KEYWORDS: Donations, Platelets, Screening, Control, Analysis. |

Houve predominância do sexo masculino.
