Resumo: ABSTRACT: This research is based on the assumption that Technical Assistance and Rural Extension in recent years has made a difference in the life of the family rural farmer, by bringing this public closer to previously unknown technical knowledge, and by providing easier access to existing public policies. . The main objective is to diagnose the impacts on the life of the family farmers who benefit from the ATER service within the sheep farming activity. This research was developed from a simplified theoretical framework on themes that justify Ater's action in the Dom Helder Câmara Project that is being carried out in the municipality of Santana do Ipanema, in the hinterland of Alagoas. Although the project is still under development, given the extension of its duration, it is possible to state that there was an improvement in working conditions for those benefiting from the project. Ovinoculture.RESUMO: Essa pesquisa parte do pressuposto que a Assistência Técnica e a Extensão Rural nos últimos anos tem feito a diferença na vida do agricultor rural familiar, por aproximar esse público dos conhecimentos técnicos, antes desconhecidos, e por proporcionar uma maior facilidade no acesso às políticas públicas existentes. O objetivo principal é diagnosticar os impactos na vida do produtor rural familiar beneficiado com o serviço de Ater dentro da atividade da ovinocultura. Esta pesquisa foi desenvolvida a partir de um simplificado referencial teórico sobre temas que justificam a ação da Ater no Projeto Dom Helder Câmara que está sendo executado no município de Santana do Ipanema, sertão de Alagoas. Embora o projeto ainda esteja em desenvolvimento, dada a prorrogação de sua vigência, é possível afirmar que houve melhoria nas condições de trabalho para os beneficiados com o projeto.
