Resumo: | ABSTRACT: Introduction: The training of health professionals in Brazil must follow the principles of the Unified Health System, which, by acting strongly with the complexity of the Brazilian population, requires teaching methods that explore the specific health, social and cultural characteristics of these people. Objective: To analyze the literature on innovative methodologies used for training in the Physiotherapy course. Methods: MEDLINE, BVS Saúde, LILACS, SCIELO, PUBMED and PEDRO databases were used. The terms Teaching (Teaching), Public Health (Public Health), Physiotherapy (Physiotherapy) and Unified Health System (Unified Health System) were used with the Boolean operator “AND”, using articles in English and Portuguese. Results and discussion: 668 articles were obtained as a result, which after analysis were filtered remaining 3 articles. One of the studies was characterized as a case study and the second as an experience report. It was noted, from the discussion, the need to build bonds between health services, universities and communities to improve professional training and academic performance within the territories. The importance of implementing teaching methodologies that advocate problematization and the development of the academic's critical regional sense was also highlighted. Conclusions: It is necessary that teachers who implement innovative methodologies start to describe them showing the positive and negative aspects in view of the reality of their uses in physiotherapy courses and that these practices promote an articulation between theoretical and practical knowledge.
