Resumo: Bioplastics refer to plastics produced from biomass through renewable and biological sources. They are an alternative to the problem of large-scale production of petrochemical bags and excessive consumption causing various harm to human beings and the environment. The sustainable development of biodegradable bags brings benefits to the planet, such as the reduction of polluting gases, has different means of disposal, expands the economic sector and reduces the use of oil as a raw material. Thus, the aim of this article was to describe and analyze the main advantages attributed to the production of biodegradable bags aiming at the sustainability of the planet. The search was carried out with job searches in the Scielo and Google Academic databases, totaling 918 articles, from which 33 were selected for writing this article. A questionnaire was applied to students of the chemistry degree course at the State University of Alagoas, Campus I, and it was observed that among the various issues, from knowledge about biodegradable bags to environmental impacts, 93.8% of respondents know the importance of replacing conventional bags with biodegradable bags, and 6.3% answered that they did not. It was found that bioplastics are produced through natural resources, enhancing their rapid decomposition that does not aggravate the environment, moreover, it is a beneficial means for the chain of microorganisms as they can be a source of energy for them. It was found that the idea of ​​bioplastics is linked with the need to reduce the environmental impacts caused by the accumulation of plastic waste, excessive production, inadequate disposal and, consequently, due to the emission of gases into the atmosphere through its lasting degradation.

Son una alternativa al problema de la producción a gran escala de bolsas petroquímicas y el consumo excesivo provocando diversos daños al ser humano y al medio ambiente. El desarrollo sostenible de bolsas biodegradables trae beneficios al planeta, como la reducción de gases contaminantes, cuenta con diferentes medios de disposición, expande el sector económico y reduce el uso de petróleo como materia prima. Así, el objetivo de este artículo fue describir y analizar las principales ventajas atribuidas a la producción de bolsas biodegradables con miras a la sostenibilidad del planeta. La búsqueda se realizó con búsquedas de empleo en las bases de datos Scielo y Google Academic, totalizando 918 artículos, de los cuales se seleccionaron 33 para la redacción de este artículo. Se aplicó un cuestionario a estudiantes de la carrera de Química de la Universidad Estatal de Alagoas, Campus I, y se observó que entre los diversos temas, desde el conocimiento sobre las bolsas biodegradables hasta los impactos ambientales, el 93,8% de los encuestados conoce la importancia de reemplazar las bolsas convencionales. bolsas con bolsas biodegradables, y el 6,3% respondió que no. São uma alternativa à problemática de produção de sacolas petroquímicas em larga escala e consumo excessivo causando variados malefícios ao ser humano e ao meio ambiente. O desenvolvimento sustentável das sacolas biodegradáveis atribui benefícios ao planeta como redução de gases poluentes, possui distintos meios de descarte, amplia o setor econômico e atenua o uso do petróleo como matéria prima. Assim, o objetivo deste artigo foi descrever e analisar as principais vantagens atribuídas à produção de sacolas biodegradáveis visando a sustentabilidade do planeta. A pesquisa ocorreu com buscas de trabalhos nas bases de dados Scielo e Google Acadêmico, totalizando 918 artigos dos quais selecionou-se 33 para escrita deste artigo. Aplicou-se questionário aos discentes do curso de licenciatura em química da Universidade Estadual de Alagoas, Campus I, e observou-se que em meio as questões diversas, desde o conhecimento sobre sacolas biodegradáveis até os impactos ambientais, 93,8% dos entrevistados sabem da importância de substituir as sacolas convencionais, por sacolas biodegradáveis, e, 6,3% contestaram que não. Verificou-se que os bioplásticos são produzidos através de recursos naturais, enaltecendo sua decomposição rápida que não agrava o meio ambiente, ademais, é um meio benéfico para a cadeia dos microrganismos já que podem ser uma fonte de energia para os mesmos.
