Modeling of an ecological niche of hte enusg Utetheisa (Lepidoptera: Erebidae) in a planting area in Brazil

Resumo: Utetheisa is a genus of moth that has a worldwide distribution, in their larval period they are defoliators of cultivated plants. Knowledge of the occurrence and its method of distribution in plantation areas, where they are inserted, is considered highly importantfor understanding the biodiversity of these increasingly common ecosystems in Brazil. We investigated the occurrence of Utetheisa species in plantation areasinserted in several phytogeographic domains of the Brazilian territory, to understand the potential distribution of the species that occur in Brazil, as well as to know the ideal conditions for their establishment and propagation. For this, the maxent algorithm was used to model the ecological niche and potential distribution of Utetheisa ornatrix (Linnaeus, 1758) and Utetheisa pulchella (Linnaeus, 1758). We identified that the abundance of the genus in the sample survey was 10,442 (N), U. ornatrix with 10,299 (N) and U. pulchella with 143 (N), in relation to the points of occurrence in total, 147 were obtained for application in ecological niche modeling 133 for U. ornatrix and 17 for U. pulchella, with three sample points, from the systematized collections, of U. ornatrix being repeated for U. pulchella. The variables with the greatest influence on the distribution of U. ornatrix were the warmest maximum temperatures and, for U. pulchella it was the precipitation of the coldest quarter.

El conocimiento de la ocurrencia y su distribución en las áreas de plantación donde están ubicados se considera de gran importancia para comprender la biodiversidad de estos ecosistemas, que son cada vez más comunes en Brasil. Investigamos la ocurrencia de especies de Utetheisa en áreas de plantación, insertas en varios dominios fitogeográficos del territorio brasileño, para comprender la distribución potencial de las especies que ocurren en Brasil, así como para conocer las condiciones ideales para su establecimiento y propagación. Para ello, se utilizó el algoritmo maxent para modelar el nicho ecológico y la distribución potencial de Utetheisa ornatrix (Linnaeus, 1758) y Utetheisa pulchella (Linnaeus, 1758). Identificamos que la abundancia del género en la encuesta muestral fue de 10 442 (N), U. ornatrix con 10 299 (N) y U. pulchella con 143 (N), en relación a los puntos de ocurrencia en los totales obtenidos 147 para el aplicación en el modelado del nicho ecológico 133 para U. ornatrix y 17 para U. pulchella, y se repitieron los tres puntos mostrados, a partir de colectas sistematizadas, desde U. ornatrix hasta U. pulchella. Las variables con mayor influencia en la distribución de U. ornatrix fueron la temperatura máxima del mes más caluroso para y, para U. pulchella fue la precipitación del trimestre más frío.Utetheisa é um gênero de mariposa que possui distribuição mundial, em seu período larval são desfolhadoras de plantas cultivadas. O conhecimento da ocorrência e seu método de distribuição em áreas de plantio, onde estão inseridas, é considerado de grande importância para o entendimento da biodiversidade desses ecossistemas cada vez mais comuns no Brasil. Investigamos a ocorrência das espécies de Utetheisa em áreas de plantio, inseridas em diversos  domínios fitogeográficos do território brasileiro, para entender a distribuição potencial das espécies que ocorrem no Brasil, bem como conhecer as condições ideais para seu estabelecimento e propagação. Para isso foi utilizado o algoritmo maxent para modelar o nicho ecológico e a distribuição potencial de Utetheisa ornatrix (Linnaeus, 1758) e Utetheisa pulchella (Linnaeus, 1758). Identificamos que a abundância do gênero no levantamento amostral foi de 10.442 (N), U. ornatrix com 10.299 (N) e U. pulchella com 143(N), em relação aos pontos de ocorrência no total foram obtidos 147 para aplicação na modelagem de nicho ecológico 133 para U. ornatrix e 17 para U. pulchella, sendo que três pontos amostrais, das coletas sistematizadas, de U. ornatrix se repetiram para U. pulchella.
