This work proposes a reflection on the importance of the schooling of multiliterate practices in line with the cultural contemporaneity, marked by cyberspace and cyberculture. From the discussions on the forms of schooling, the pedagogy of multiliteracies and the consolidation of the world wide web, it examines how the school behaves in the face of textual multimodalities, the social relations present in cyberspace. The socio-historical-cultural issues of the forms of schooling were used as theoretical support, in addition to presenting definitions of this concept; concepts about cyberspace and cyberculture; and the pedagogy of multiliteracies, which presents considerations about the new functions of the school. The intention of the present discussion is not to exhaust the theme or establish unquestionable paths, but to provoke a look at the role of the school today, especially in the context of cyberspace.
