Resumo: The mineral riches and social, ecological and environmental diversity of the Sertão region are portrayed in this article, the main objective of which was to analyze the textual-discursive chains of the book "Amputations of the Sertão Mountains: Ecocide and Mining in Bahia", a 2021 publication by the collective of authors of the Save the Hills Movement, and describe the determining ideological constructions for safeguarding or destroying the socioecobiodiversity of the mountain ouschain and subsoil of the northern hills of the Sertão in Bahia. The study assumed the theoretical-methodological approach of dialogized plurilingualism from the of the Circle of Bakthin, Volochínov and Medvedev and adopted its analytical categories as tools to examine the ideological constructions of the Save the Hills Movement in the social, political, economic, ecological, environmental and academic contexts in the Sertão hills of Bahia. The results of the analyses revealed that the activities of mining and prospecting sectors, with the complicity and collusion of the Bahia state, destroy mountains, contaminate water bodies and soil, alter the subsoil, promote social and economic injustice, and generate socio-environmental conflicts in the mountainous territories and traditional communities of the northern hills of the Sertão in Bahia, and that the mobilizations of the Save the Hills Movement denounce crimes of ethno- and ecocide and illegalities, these mobilizations being essential for the safe guarding of the socioecobiodiversity of this mountainous chain in Bahia, which is part of the Espinhaço mountain range in the Brazilian semi-arid region.
