Resumo: The relationship between human beings and animals is a complex institution that started at the beginning of history. The belief that contact with nature is something good or beneficial for people is an old and widespread notion, but these relationships can be treated from attraction and admiration (biophilia) to aversion and indifference (biophobia). Thus, this work aims to report the emotional connections between people and possums (Didelphis spp.). For this, 50 interviews were carried out, 32 of which were semi-structured and 18 were visually stimulated. The results showed that the urban population of Feira de Santana has predominantly biophobic feelings towards possums. Based on this, there is a clear need for ethnobiological studies as a way of registering, preserving ecological and zoological knowledge of urban populations, and these can help in the elaboration of proposals aimed at the conservation and management of the species in this urbanized environment.

La creencia de que el contacto con la naturaleza es algo bueno o beneficioso para las personas es una noción antigua y muy extendida, pero estas relaciones pueden ser tratadas desde la atracción y admiración (biofilia) hasta la aversión e indiferencia (biofobia). Así, este trabajo tiene como objetivo reportar las conexiones emocionales entre las personas y las zarigüeyas (Didelphis spp.). Para ello se realizaron 50 entrevistas, de las cuales 32 fueron semiestructuradas y 18 fueron estimuladas visualmente. Los resultados mostraron que la población urbana de Feira de Santana tiene sentimientos predominantemente biofóbicos hacia las zarigüeyas. Con base en esto, existe una clara necesidad de estudios etnobiológicos como una forma de registro, preservación del conocimiento ecológico y zoológico de las poblaciones urbanas, y estos pueden ayudar en la elaboración de propuestas dirigidas a la conservación y manejo de las especies en este ambiente urbanizado.O relacionamento entre seres humanos e animais constitui uma instituição complexa iniciada nos primórdios da história. A crença de que o contato com a natureza é algo bom ou benéfico para as pessoas é uma noção antiga e generalizada, porém essas relações podem ser tratadas desde atração e admiração (biofilia) a aversão e indiferença (biofobia). Assim, este trabalho tem o intuito de relatar as ligações emotivas entre as pessoas e os sariguês (Didelphis spp.). Para isso foram realizadas 50 entrevistas, sendo 32 semi-estruturadas e 18 visualmente estimuladas. Os resultados apontaram que a população urbana de Feira de Santana possui sentimentos predominantemente biofóbicos em relação aos sariguês.
