Resumo: | The transposition of novels into telenovelas entails the reconfiguration of the production logic and ways of using the derived product. Among these changes are adaptations to genre conventions that, in this case, bring with them popular marks that have repercussions on the relationship between public and author. This article explores how the melodramatic matrices and the roots in the feuilleton imply changes in the composition of the plot and characters, or in the modality of plot enlargement. The reflection is made from the adaptations of the novel Gabriela, clove and cinnamon (1958), by Jorge Amado, for the telenovelas Gabriela from Rede Globo: by Walter Durst (1975) and by Walcyr Carrasco (2012). As a result, it was observed that the presence of the popular in the mass media is present in the expansion of the plots through the addition of episodes and characters in the 1975 version and in loans in 2012, with the long and episodic narrative, the use of hooks and of suspense, the drama of forbidden love, fatality, the presence of the hero who saves the girl who is a victim of society, the struggle between good and evil personified in the projects of power among local leaders. |
