Resumo: | This article presents a theoretical compilation alluding to the Theory of Social Representations (TRS), formulated by Serge Moscovici, and, proficuamente developed by Denise Jodelet, scientist of extreme importance for the propagation of the proposed Theory. In an introductory way, the historical, political, scientific (especially social psychology) and economic context was outlined, in which this author was immersed in the period of the great revolutions that flourished in France. For the derivation of the TRS Moscovici was inspired by the Durkhieminian assumptions. It was observed that the knowledge produced by the scientific dimension presented a status of supremacy when compared to that originated by common sense, which is linked to a range of perceptions, creeds, habits and values that are incorporated into the daily practice of subjects, and that give semantics to the social reality of collectivities. Moreover, it was pointed out that there is an inwardly connection between Memory and Social Representation, since these relate dialectically, so that the behaviors of individuals in the present time are based on the social representation that they have about something, highlighting in it the characteristic of conservation supported in the anchorage of this representation, attribute formed, especially by the collective memory of the adhesion group. Finally, it was discerned that memory is extremely relevant for the formation of social representations, because it is through it that the subjects perform the process of identification, recognition and adherence to groups.
