Resumo: This article discusses the inclusion of deaf indigenous people in basic education schools and bilingual education. It aims to raise and give visibility to the practices developed in some regions of Brazil regarding the inclusion of deaf indigenous students in formal education, specifically the initial and final years of elementary school. The method used was dialectic, which involves review and critical reflection. The data were analyzed from the references Libras, Deaf Indigenous and bilingualism, superseded in Vigotski’s Historical Cultural method (2007). The results demonstrate signs shared by deaf people in the villages, created by them and which are part of their own language. It is concluded that it is necessary to identify the cultural elements that constitute its identity, as well as the contexts in which the deaf linguistic signs specific to the culture emerge, how they legitimize and intertwine with the Brazilian Sign Language.
