The economists and affirmative action politics: reasons of a controversial positioning

Resumo: Why the neoclassical economists are against the affirmative action politics? In order to answer this question, it is necessary to understand how the representatives of the economic thought hegemonic chain articulate their visions of the racial differences phenomenon to a very particular world view. Due to epistemological and philosophical factors, their authors end up untying the social phenomena causalities from the market functioning. Consequently, the public politics drawing is directed to subjective aspects, like the promotion of “opportunities equality”, or else, a politic that merely stimulates the market free functioning. This argument’s power seems to find strength, however, not so much in its solid theoretical premises, but, above all, in the moral principles that dissimulate inside its models line spaces.

Para responder a esta questão, é preciso entender como os representantes da corrente hegemônica do pensamento econômico articulam sua visão do fenômeno das desigualdades raciais a uma concepção de mundo bastante particular. Devido a fatores de ordem epistemológica e filosófica, seus autores terminam por desvincular a causalidade dos fenômenos sociais do funcionamento do mercado. Conseqüentemente, o desenho de políticas públicas volta-se para aspectos subjetivos, como a promoção da "igualdade de oportunidades", ou seja, uma política que estimula meramente o livre funcionamento do mercado.
