Resumo: This text registers a brief report of the intellectual and political life of the great French philosopher J.P.Sartre (1905-1980) in his birthday centenary. From Existencialism and his intense participation in the Marxist activism, Sartre left us a very important cultural and political heritage. For sure no other philosopher represented better than him the hopes and anxieties of the European intellectual in the 20th century, totally compromised with the liberal cause.
