Resumo: This paper is a sociological interpretation of the novel The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitsgerald, from the point of view of some of the essential aspects of modern society such as the reification and the boasting consume which are at the same time closely linked and relatively distinct. In fact, it tries to point out some important modalities of human knowledge through a literary form, the novel.
