Rethinking the curriculum in vocational school: bridging the finnish experience and the brazilian reality

Resumo: | This paper presents the experiences of five Federal Institute professors after having organized workshops to discuss guidelines for an innovative curriculum within the Vocational Education. The discussions’ kick off was the Finnish Educational System since the professors who led this action-research were also in the Teachers for the Future Program (VET III), in Finland, in its third edition in 2016. From the workshops general guidelines were designed to organize a curriculum which has as its corner stone the student-centred approach and other principles related to the Education in the 21st Century. It is important to highlight that the Brazilian reality was considered within the whole process enhancing the collective construction of projects for the courses. Some elements for the curricular innovation refer to the content organization in an interdisciplinary way or gathered by areas or even contents, which would comprise a curricular unit to be developed in short-terms and with a robust study load. It is also expected that learners can define, if aided by an advisor, how and when they wish to have the curricular units organized within the term, which was named the “formative track”. |

As discussões tiveram como ponto de partida a organização do sistema de ensino finlandês, uma vez que as professoras que conduziram essa pesquisa-ação participaram do Programa “Professores para o Futuro” (VET III) na Finlândia, em sua terceira edição, em 2016. As oficinas tiveram como resultado a criação de diretrizes gerais para a organização de um currículo que tem como pilar a aprendizagem centrada no estudante e demais princípios da Educação para o Século XXI. O processo não desconsiderou a realidade brasileira, ressaltando-se a importância da construção coletiva dos projetos dos cursos. Alguns elementos para a inovação curricular referem-se à organização dos conteúdos de forma interdisciplinar e/ou de acordo com áreas ou grupos de conteúdos, compreendendo unidades curriculares a serem desenvolvidas em períodos de curta duração e com carga horária semanal robusta.
