Conflicts among students from 8 to 9 years old: teasing and annoying behavior

Resumo: Based on the Piagetian perspective, this qualitative and quantitative study sought to investigate the causes of conflicts among primary school students. Thirty children aged 8 and 9 from a primary school, selected according to the criterion of convenience. Data were collected through 23 sessions of observation of the interactions between the children in different moments of the school routine until the saturation of the data, criterion chosen to leave the field. In some situations, it was necessary to have an informal conversation with the participants to better understand the conflict. The results indicated that the main cause of conflict among students was teasing, annoying behavior and physical dispute. It discusses the influence of cognitive, affective and moral development, as well as the cultural aspects that influence the experience of the conflict. It is recommended the implementation of educational interventions that, in addition to approaching conflicts with students, invest in strategies for valuing ethical coexistence.

Participaron de esta investigación 30 niños de 8 y 9 años, provenientes de una escuela de Enseñanza Fundamental, elegida según el criterio de conveniencia. Los datos fueron recolectados por medio de 23 sesiones de observación de las interacciones entre los niños en diversos momentos de la rutina escolar hasta la saturación de los datos, criterio elegido para la salida del campo. En algunas situaciones, fue necesaria la realización de una conversación informal con los participantes para la mejor comprensión del conflicto. Los resultados indicaron que la principal causa de conflicto entre los estudiantes fue la provocación, la reacción al comportamiento perturbador y la disputa física. Se discute la influencia del desarrollo cognitivo, afectivo y moral, así como los aspectos culturales que influencian la vivencia del conflicto. Se recomienda la implantación de intervenciones educativas que además del abordaje de los conflictos con los estudiantes, inviertan en estrategias para la valorización de la convivencia ética.Fundamentado na perspectiva piagetiana, este estudo de delineamento qualitativo e quantitativo buscou investigar as causas dos conflitos entre estudantes de Ensino Fundamental I. Participaram dessa pesquisa 30 crianças de 8 e 9 anos, provenientes de uma escola de Ensino Fundamental, escolhida segundo o critério de conveniência. Os dados foram coletados por meio de 23 sessões de observação das interações entre as crianças em diversos momentos da rotina escolar até a saturação dos dados, critério escolhido para a saída do campo. Em algumas situações, foi necessária a realização de uma conversa informal com os participantes para a melhor compreensão do conflito. Os resultados indicaram que a principal causa de conflito entre os estudantes foi a provocação, a reação ao comportamento perturbador e a disputa física. Discute-se a influência do desenvolvimento cognitivo, afetivo e moral, bem como os aspectos culturais que influenciam a vivência do conflito.
