Resumo: Musicians are part of a professional category which exposes its members to activities of musculoskeletals risks. The objective this study was to investigate the musculoskeletal overuse in 22 orchestral musicians and the socio-demographic, health and work factors associated their practices. For the evaluation was used the clinical classification of Fry (1986) that describes the overuse in five degrees. Besides, a questionnaire multidimensional was applied with aspects socio-demographic, health and work and observations of the practices were accomplished. The classifications of musculoskeletal overuse were in the degree I for 54% of the musicians, indicating unifocal constant pain during the practice of the instrument, but that finishes with the finalization of the motor gesture. Only 9.09% of the musicians did muscle stretching before and after their studies and 45.45% already used pain medicines. The practice of more than one instrument and be studying graduation in music was variable associated to the largest overload musculoskeletal.
