Resumo: The FRS investigation provides knowledge about the way and characteristics of mechanic overload over the human locomotor system and its behavior for selected movements. Thus, is important to determine the ground reaction force during the walk in normal and pathological individuals. Researches it was done about the vertical component of the ground reaction force in data basis and congresses of the biomechanical. Through these searches it was selected texts about studies related, mainly, to the maximum vertical reaction force in normal and pathological individuals in different ages. The process of getting old, the motor development, some pathologies (diabetes, osteoarthritis, cerebrovascular accident) and the velocity, are some factors that directly influence the vertical component of the ground reaction force during the gait. Different strategies adopted by different public must be studied in order to give subsides to gait rehabilitation programs, promoting a safe movement and minimizing the risk of skeletal-muscle damage and articular overload associated to lesion.
