Resumo: | Literature shows references that present the benefits of physical exercise for patients with fibromyalgia, howewer, there is still no consensus between the intensity and quantity of appropriate training to improve the physical condition of the individual without exacerbation of the symptoms. Despite advanced research related to its etiology, the fibromyalgia syndrome is a pathology that still is not completely understood. Recognising the diverse pathophysiological aspects involved in this condition, the instruments that can be used in its assessment, as well as the possible benefits of physical exercise, can help professionals that prescribe training programs to obtain positive results for patients with fibromyalgia. The objective of this literature review is to include all of these aspects, through biographical research made between 2006 and 2008, by means of medical literature and the databases Scopus, Pubmed, Bireme, Lilacs and Medline, using the key words fibromyalgia, exercise, pain, sleep, serotonin, P substance, depression and their similar in Portuguese. |
