Resumo: The objective of this paper is to discuss how the historical memory is constructed from the formation of personal archives. Particularly, the text deals with the documentation of the political leader and Brazilian intellectual Plínio Salgado (1875 – 1975), trying to understand the mechanisms by which he formed his documentation to build his image in the future and his objectives in this sense. The concerns of the historian when working with this documentation and personal funds in general are emphasized.
