Resumo: This paper discusses data of a research on History teaching in a municipal school attending low income adult students in the evening period. The teaching of History based on memory opens good possibilities for narrative production and for narrative listening as the different views brought by the students narratives relate the silence voices in the community with the construction of historical knowledge in the classroom, In this process the women voices have to be specially considered for their historical position in our society. Their narratives amplify our understanding of cultural expression and survival.

Their narratives amplify our understanding of cultural expression and survival.Os autores do artigo analisam dados de uma pesquisa desenvolvida como parte das atividades de ensino de História em uma escola municipal da periferia do município de São Paulo, com os alunos da modalidade de Educação de Jovens e Adultos do período noturno. Na educação escolar, trabalhando o ensino de história relacionado à memória, é possível dar voz a parte dos muitos silêncios historicamente construídos e fazer o exercício de narrar e de ouvir.
