Las mujeres españolas, portuguesas y americanas, a collection produced around 1870, sums up and represents the history of Spain, in the Eighteenth Century. It exposes, by iconographic and textual languages (chromolithographies and monographic articles), the ideal and the desire of those who already had had great influence in the world - territorial, political, military and economic power – and it tries to show – using the feminine subject, the contents, the graphic project concept and notions of what the world is – national spanish characteristics. This article cares about the historicity of this work, presenting reflexions about the editorial aspects of the period in which it was produced and some other considerations about its rise, on that moment.
