Resumo: No Semiárido de Alagoas, os camponeses estabelecem uma relação comunitária baseada na preservação e troca de sementes crioulas, através dos Bancos Comunitários de Sementes. Essa iniciativa busca suplantar o avanço dos cultivos transgênicos e preservar os códigos genéticos e culturais que permeiam o savoir-faire camponês. Em meio a uma economia mundializada, formada pela atuação de grandes corporações empresariais, que movem enormes somas de recursos, lobby e toda sorte de expedientes para monopolizar a produção e a reprodução social da vida, o papel desempenhado pelos camponeses é de suma relevância, materializando uma resistência territorial, alicerçada na autonomia de cultivo, na segurança alimentar e na agrobiodiversidade.
