Maupassant.Mediante a análise do conto “A Noite", de Maupassant, este artigo busca articular as perspectivas retórica e semiótica do conceito de figura e traçar algumas considerações sobre suas relações com o sujeito, cuja identidade é vista como sendo decorrente das figuras por ele construídas. Desse modo, o sujeito enunciante passa a ser estruturado por figuras do plano de expressão e o sujeito enunciado resultante da organização de figuras do plano do conteúdo.
