Resumo: This article focuses on the play Marat-Sade, written by the Swedish playwright Peter Weiss. Making use of a Marxist approach, it examines the relation that this play bears to Brecht´s theory of the epic theatre. In its second part, it analyses the staging of Marat-Sade by the English director Peter Brook, and its relation to both the text and Brecht´s theories. Keywords: Drama. Brecht. Marxism.
