MOTHERHOOD AND RELIGIOSITY IN THE SOCIAL REPRESENTATIONS OF CHILDHOOD BY MOTHERS OF CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES

Resumo: Contemporary society, children with disabilities raise controversies related to inclusion processes and provoke debate about prejudiced attitudes and beliefs that still persist. The main objective of this study was to identify the Social Representations of childhood by mothers of children with disabilities, adopting the framework of Social History and Social Psychology. In the problematization, we question the meanings of motherhood that seem to be impacted by the arrival of a child with a disability. In the qualitative research, the methodology had 60 participants, mothers of children with disabilities; the empirical phase in three stages - free word association questionnaire, word ranking, semi-structured interview interpreted by thematic content analysis. In the results, the social representation of childhood with objectification in pain for the loss of the idealized child and postponement of life projects and symbolic meanings in the anchoring, sacralization and divine blessing of motherhood, in the acceptance of difference through religiosity.

O presente estudo teve como objetivo principal identificar as Representações Sociais da infância por mães de crianças com deficiência, adotando o referencial da História Social e da Psicologia Social. Na problematização, questionamos os sentidos de maternidade que parecem sofrer o impacto da chegada de um filho com deficiência. Na pesquisa qualitativa, a metodologia contou com 60 participantes, mães de crianças com deficiência; a fase empírica em três etapas - questionário de associação livre de palavras, hierarquização de palavras, entrevista semi-estruturada interpretada pela análise temática de conteúdo.
