Do Research Leaders at a Brazilian University Legitimize Their Institutional Policy for Innovation?

Resumo: Universities have strived to reflect the transformations taking place nowadays by assuming an entrepreneur model for managing the knowledge produced in them. In order to approach the subject, this study sought to compare the opinion of research group leaders from a public Brazilian university with its institutional policy of science and technology and innovation. The adopted method was of an exploratory nature with quantitative variables. The data were collected by means of a structured questionnaire directed to the group leaders. The sample was probabilistic and the data analyzed by means of bivariate (correlation and crossbabs) and multivariate (clusters) statistical techniques. The results showed that despite a certain integration between the positioning of the research group leaders and the objective reflected in the policies for science, technology and innovation, the University still faces a great challenge, which is to transform its potential into practical results. Keywords: Innovation; Technology transfer; Institutional policy; Research group leaders.As universidades têm feito esforços no intuito de refletir as transformações da atualidade, ao se aproximarem de um modelo empreendedor para a gestão do conhecimento nelas produzido. Para abordar o assunto, o trabalho buscou confrontar a opinião dos líderes de grupos de pesquisa de uma Universidade pública brasileira, diante de sua política institucional de ciência e tecnologia e inovação. O método adotado foi de natureza exploratória, com variáveis quantitativas. Os dados foram coletados por meio de questionário estruturado, direcionado aos líderes dos grupos. A amostra foi probabilística e os dados analisados, por meio das técnicas estatísticas bivariadas (correlação e crossbabs) e multivariada (clusters). Os resultados evidenciaram que, apesar de haver certa integração entre o posicionamento dos líderes de grupos de pesquisa e o objetivo refletido nas políticas para ciência, tecnologia e inovação, a Universidade ainda se encontra diante de um grande desafio, que é o de transformar as suas potencialidades em resultados práticos.
