The fourth form of reverse chain verticalization: a case study in the rubber sector

Resumo: Due to existing environmental concerns and the companies’ need to explore their competencies to the utmost so they become a competitive differential, there is reverse logistics. Reverse logistics is characterized by being a reverse movement in the supply chain, where products go through a reverse inverse path, that is, products go from final customers back to suppliers. In this context, this study aims at exploring a post- consumer reverse chain from a recycling service company perspective, in an attempt to rate the analyzed company’s performance. This is an exploratory study with a qualitative approach, in which a semi-structured questionnaire was used as technique for gathering data. This paper’s main results are: the classification of the company analyzed as a reverse logistics agent, identification of the fourth form of reverse chain verticalization, and the economic, financial and environmental benefits generated by this chain. Finally suggestions are made for future studies. Keywords: Reverse Chain; Reverse Logistics; Rubber Sector.

Keywords: Reverse Chain; Reverse Logistics; Rubber Sector.Devido à preocupação ambiental existente e a necessidade das empresas explorarem ao máximo suas competências, para que essas se tornem um diferencial competitivo, está imersa a logística reversa. A logística reversa é caracterizada por ser um movimento reverso na cadeia de suprimentos, em que os produtos percorrem o caminho inverso; em outras palavras, partindo dos clientes finais e chegando aos fornecedores. Nesse contexto, este estudo tem como objetivo explorar a cadeia reversa de pós-consumo, através da visão de uma empresa prestadora de serviços de reciclagem, buscando classificar o tipo de atuação dessa empresa. Este trabalho se caracteriza por ser um estudo exploratório, com uma abordagem qualitativa, no qual se utilizou do questionário semi-estruturado como técnica de coleta de dados. O presente trabalho apresenta como principais resultados: a classificação da empresa analisada como um agente de logística reversa, a identificação da quarta forma de verticalização da cadeia reversa e os benefícios econômicos, financeiros e ambientais gerados por essa cadeia. Ao final, são apresentadas sugestões de estudos futuros.
