Simulation of the economic response of three integrated crop-livestock production systems

Resumo: The advance of agriculture under livestock production areas in Rio Grande do Sul (RS) has been leading the breeding herds to areas of lower quality. Consequently, the rearing and fattening management of these herds has been carried out in pasture areas in succession to soybean crops. The objective of this study was to evaluate, through a simulation model using electronic spreadsheets, the economic viability of three production scenarios with or without the sale of calves acquired in the off-season, after grazing in ryegrass pasture, in winter, in an area of ​​crop integration livestock in the municipality of Dom Pedrito, RS. The evaluated scenarios were: i) SA (ryegrass and soybean): ryegrass pasture in winter and soybean crop in summer; ii) ASConf (ryegrass, soybeans and confinement): ryegrass pasture in winter and soybean farming and summer confinement; and iii) ASud (ryegrass and soy/sudan): ryegrass pasture in winter and part of the area with soybeans and another part with Sudan grass. It was evident that, in this simulation, high investments do not necessarily generate greater profitability. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a technical and careful analysis to define in which situation each methodology should be applied, considering the market behavior and the availability of financial capital.

En consecuencia, el manejo de la cría y engorde de estos rebaños se ha realizado en áreas de pastoreo en sucesión a cultivos de soja. El objetivo fue evaluar, a través de un modelo de simulación mediante planillas electrónicas, la viabilidad económica de tres escenarios de producción con o sin venta de terneros adquiridos fuera de temporada, luego de pastorear en pastos de raigrás, en invierno, en un área de Integración de cultivos ganaderos en el municipio de Dom Pedrito, RS. Los escenarios evaluados fueron: i) SA (raigrás y soja): pasto raigrás en invierno y cultivo de soja en verano; ii) ASConf (raigrás, soja y confinamiento): pastos de raigrás en invierno y cultivo de soja y confinamiento de verano; y iii) ASud (raigrás y soja / Sudán): pastos de raigrás en invierno y parte del área con soja y otra parte con Sudán césped. Se evidenció que, en esta simulación, altas inversiones no necesariamente generan mayor rentabilidad. Por lo tanto, es necesario realizar un análisis técnico y cuidadoso para definir en qué situación se debe aplicar cada metodología, considerando el comportamiento del mercado y la disponibilidad de capital financiero.O avanço da agricultura sob as áreas de produção pecuária no Rio Grande do Sul (RS) vem conduzindo os rebanhos de cria para áreas de menor qualidade. Consequentemente, o manejo de recria e engorda desses rebanhos vem sendo conduzido em áreas de pastagens em sucessão a lavoura de soja. Objetivou-se avaliar, por meio de um modelo de simulação utilizando planilhas eletrônicas, a viabilidade econômica de três cenários de produção com a venda ou não de terneiros adquiridos na entressafra, após pastoreio em pastagem de azevém, no inverno, em área de integração lavoura pecuária no município de Dom Pedrito, RS. Os cenários avaliados foram: i) AS (azevém e soja):pastagem de azevém no inverno e lavoura de soja no verão; ii) ASConf (azevém, soja e confinamento):pastagem de azevém no inverno e lavoura de soja e confinamento do verão e iii) ASSud (azevém esoja/sudão): pastagem de azevém no inverno e parte da área com soja e outra parte com capim sudão. Evidenciou-se que, nesta simulação, os altos investimentos não necessariamente geram maior lucratividade.
