Palms for Life: application to guide small farmers in the planning, planting, management and use of forage palm

Resumo: The semi-arid is characterized by low rainfall, combined with long droughts and high temperatures, almost all year round. Such conditions impose, such that, almost always, every year there is a lack of forage for large and even small ruminants. Hence the need for an alternative that can supply the nutritional deficiency of herds, and which, in addition, is easy to implant and highly resistant to water deficit: the Forage Palm. The Forage Palm is of great importance in the semiarid region, but rural producers afford little information about it, exploring culture empirically and only for animal feed. Based on this scenario, this work aims to plan and develop a mobile application with the objective of spreading the handling, planting, the management and the use of forage palm. For the development, it was necessary to start the process of bibliographic review, survey and analysis of requirements and then the implementation process. As a result, the application developed with the following sections and features is presented in detail: tutorial, pests and diseases, bromatology, simulate production, potential and recipes, enabling management for decision making, technical knowledge about the use of Forage Palm for free and easy access for rural producers.

Estas condiciones conducen casi invariablemente a una falta de forraje para los grandes y pequeños rumiantes cada año. De ahí la necesidad de un forraje alternativo que pueda suplir la carencia nutricional de los rebaños, y que, además, sea fácil de implantar y altamente resistente al déficit hídrico: la Palma Forrajera. Esta planta es de gran importancia en la región semiárida, pero los productores rurales tienen poca información sobre ella, explorándola empíricamente y solo para alimentación animal. Debido a este escenario, este trabajo tiene como objetivo planificar y desarrollar una aplicación móvil con el objetivo de difundir el manejo, siembra, manejo y aprovechamiento de la palma forrajera. Para el desarrollo fue necesario iniciar el proceso de revisión bibliográfica, relevamiento y análisis de requerimientos y luego el proceso de implementación. Como resultado, se presenta en detalle la aplicación desarrollada con las siguientes características: tutorial, plagas y enfermedades, bromatología, simulación de producción, potencial y recetas, que posibilita la gestión para la toma de decisiones, conocimiento técnico sobre el uso de la Palma Forrajera de forma gratuita y Fácil acceso para el productor rural.O semiárido se caracteriza por baixos volumes pluviométricos, aliados a longas estiagens e altas temperaturas, praticamente o ano inteiro. Tais condições levam, quase invariavelmente, todos os anos à falta de forragem para grandes e pequenos ruminantes. Nasce daí a necessidade de uma forrageira alternativa que possa suprir a deficiência nutricional dos rebanhos, e que, além disso, seja de fácil implantação e de alta resistência ao deficit hídrico: a Palma Forrageira. Esta planta é de grande importância no semiárido, porém os produtores rurais dispõem de pouca informação sobre ela, explorando de forma empírica e apenas para ração animal. Devido a esse cenário, este trabalho tem por finalidade o planejamento e o desenvolvimento de um aplicativo móvel com o objetivo de difundir o manejo, o plantio, o gerenciamento e o uso da palma forrageira. Para o desenvolvimento, foi preciso iniciar o processo de revisão bibliográfica, levantamento e análise de requisitos e então o processo de implementação.
