Resumo: | Documentary mediation is a set of intervention actions on objects to transform them into documents. These actions involve the development of documentary products, as well as services and activities to enhance access and use of these products. Documentary mediation has traditionally been studied in the disciplines of Archival Science, Bibliography-Librarianship and Museology. The articulation between them produces the field of documentary studies, also known as Documentation. With the dissemination of Information Science in the United States, starting in the 1960s, the study of documentary mediation was accommodated as one of its themes, which resulted in the partial erasure of its foundations. Therefore, the objective of the work is to explore the scientific field of documentary studies, given that it allows the foundation of documentary mediation. The article is a basic and exploratory research, developed from a bibliographical review, according to the following structure: in section 2, we analyze the theoretical-disciplinary constitutive path of documentary studies; in section 3, we discuss the concept of documentary mediation; and, in section 4, we address the explanatory categories of the field. The study allows us to identify the instability that marks the course of the field and highlights the wealth of knowledge developed over time that needs to be recovered. |

Faculdade de Filosofia e Ciências - UNESP-Marília2024-01-27info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdftext/htmlhttps://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/bjis/article/view/1537610.36311/1981-1640.2024.v18.e024001Brazilian Journal of Information Science: research trends; v. 18 (2024): publicação contínua; e024001Brazilian Journal of Information Science: Research Trends; Vol. 18 (2024): Continuous publishing; e024001Brazilian Journal of Information Science: Research Trends; Vol. 18 (2024): Publicación continua; e0240011981-16401981-1640reponame:Brazilian Journal of Information Scienceinstname:Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)instacron:UNESPporhttps://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/bjis/article/view/15376/15890https://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/bjis/article/view/15376/15891Copyright (c) 2021 Matheus Aguiar de Carvalho, Cristina Dotta Ortegahttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess Carvalho, Matheus Aguiar deOrtega, Cristina Dotta2024-02-02T20:56:13Zoai:ojs.revistas.marilia.unesp.br:article/15376Revistahttps://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/bjis/indexPUBhttps://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/bjis/oaibrajis.marilia@unesp.br||1981-16401981-1640opendoar:2024-02-02T20:56:13Brazilian Journal of Information Science - Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)false |
