Resumo: This article seeks to show that prison libraries are heterotopic places, based on the concept proposed by Michel Foucault and, also, are agents of becoming. In this sense, the questioning is centered on verifying the approximation between libraries in prison with Foucault's concept of heterotopy, with the main objective of relating these libraries to the idea of heterotopy. It is an exercise of theoretical reflection based on an exploratory and qualitative study. Regarding the methodological approach, we sought to place side by side the aspects that characterize as prison libraries and the principles that define the concept of heterotopy, in order to highlight the characteristic features that allow us to glimpse that these libraries are possible heterotopic places. It is concluded that libraries in prison environments are powerful places for becoming and consistent with what we can consider a heterotopic place.

Faculdade de Filosofia e Ciências2021-02-28info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/bjis/article/view/1129810.36311/1981-1640.2021.v15.e021001Brazilian Journal of Information Science: Research Trends; Vol. 15 (2021): continuous publication ; e021001Brazilian Journal of Information Science: Research Trends; Vol. 15 (2021): Publicación continua; e021001Brazilian Journal of Information Science: research trends; v. 15 (2021): Publicação contínua; e0210011981-1640reponame:Brazilian Journal of Information Scienceinstname:Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP)instacron:UNESPporhttps://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/bjis/article/view/11298/7039Copyright (c) 2021 Amabile Costa, Rodrigo de Saleshttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessCosta, AmabileSales, Rodrigo de2022-06-16T15:28:48Zoai:ojs.revistas.marilia.unesp.br:article/11298Revistahttps://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/bjis/indexPUBhttps://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/bjis/oaibrajis.marilia@unesp.br||1981-16401981-1640opendoar:2022-06-16T15:28:48Brazilian Journal of Information Science - Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP)false
