The scholarly communication on the move: from the origins to the current issues

Describes the historical narrative of the scholarly communication system, starting from the conception of the first research sharing activities to the current debates of this system, which have led to new forms of communication and the appearance of new conjunctures, and contextualizes the actors involved in the system. As methodology, this exploratory research is based on a survey of literature specialized in the domain, based on the assumption that since the 17th-century scientific communication has experienced transformations associated with the historical, social, economic, and political phenomena inherent to each period of history. As conclusions, it highlights the urge for the research developed in the Academia to be aligned with the current needs of society, and the establishment of a more effective communication between the Academia and society through scientific divulgation.
