This article proposes a reflection on the trajectory of Brazilian writer Carolina Maria de Jesus, contextualizing her life in relation to the discussion about gender violence and the practice of writing. Carolina, born on March 14, 1914, stood out for her works "Quarto de Despejo" and "Diário de Bitita", which offer a deep insight into the complexities faced by black and marginalized women in 20th century Brazil. The analysis of the article highlights how Carolina Maria de Jesus' works become an authentic testimony of her experience, becoming a form of self-writing. The autobiographical narrative not only addresses the adversities faced by the author, but also sheds light on the specificities of gender violence in her social context. By using writing as a means of expression, Carolina contributed to expanding the understanding of the intersectionalities between race, gender and class. The work also explores writing, practiced by Carolina Maria de Jesus, as a transformative tool that questions the social structures that perpetuate this violence.
