Resumo: This paper aims to analyze the current crisis of the Multilateral Trading System, from the perspective by which there has been a significant raise in the number of Preferential Trade Agreements (PTAs) signed among its Member States. The question that comes into mind is whether the World Trade Organization - WTO will be able to overcome the obstacles that block the organization’s growth, since the PTAs, not only regulate issues that are untouched by the organism, but also have been creating their own mechanisms, as, for instance, trade disputes. The raising complexity of both economic and trade relations explains, nevertheless, the system’s crisis and its lack of legitimacy. There is an institutional emptying within the WTO. In this sense, it is also necessary to evaluate the consequences of the current trade situation over Brazil’s interests.

Faculdade de Filosofia e Ciências2013-12-12info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/aurora/article/view/340010.36311/1982-8004.2013.v7n1.3400Revista Aurora; v. 7 n. 1 (2013); 135-154Revista Aurora; Vol. 7 No. 1 (2013); 135-154Revista Aurora; Vol. 7 Núm. 1 (2013); 135-1541982-80042177-0484reponame:Revista Aurora (Online)instname:Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)instacron:UNESPporhttps://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/aurora/article/view/3400/2722Copyright (c) 2013 Revista Aurorahttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessNonato, Luiza Gimenez2024-04-03T13:37:29Zoai:ojs.revistas.marilia.unesp.br:article/3400Revistahttps://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/aurora/indexPUBhttps://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/aurora/oaiaurora.revista@gmail.com||1982-80041982-8004opendoar:2024-04-03T13:37:29Revista Aurora (Online) - Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)false
