Resumo: ABSTRACT: This work proposes to carry out a bibliographic study on the surface design in luteria in Brazil, in which new perspectives are brought mainly of the union that can occur between this practice and the design. For the elaboration of this research, first the compilation of bibliographical research, covering diverse sources, like books, articles, magazines, sites and municipal documents, using authors like Rüthschilling (2008), Glogowski (2010) and Rubim (2009). Posteriorly a field visit was made to the municipality of Cuité, in Agreste, Paraiba, to better understand the legends and create a visual repertoire.

Para la elaboración de esta investigación, primero se dieron la compilación de investigaciones bibliográficas, abarcando diversas fuentes, como libros, artículos, revistas, sitios y documentos municipales, utilizando autores, como Rüthschilling (2008), Glogowski (2010) y Rubim (2009). En seguida se precedió una visita de campo al municipio de Cuité, en el Agreste paraibano, para mejor entendimiento de las leyendas y creación de repertorio visual.RESUMO: Este trabalho se propõe a realizar um estudo bibliográfico sobre o design de superfície em luteria no Brasil, em que são trazidas novas perspectivas principalmente da união que pode ocorrer entre esta prática e o design. Para a elaboração desta pesquisa, primeiramente deram-se a compilação de pesquisas bibliográficas, abrangendo diversas fontes, como livros, artigos, revistas, sites e documentos municipais, utilizando autores, como Rüthschilling (2008), Glogowski (2010) e Rubim (2009).
