Socialism as a resolution to COVID-19 crises: contribution from the cuban experience

Resumo: This article aims to present the objective conditions prior to the COVID-19’s pandemic -that facilitated or limited the capacity of contention of the new disease in Cuba. To this propose, it is presented the Cuban strategy to face the new disease, emphasizing the social isolation as part of the health protocol as an essential step to contain the disease and, therefore, by responsibility and execution of the National Health System. The reflections on how Cuba has faced this new disease, it´s appreciation of human life and it´s solidarity are only possible where prevails the institutions and values of an socialist society, which, therefore, leads us to revalidate socialism as the only possible option for the future of humanity.

Para ello se presenta la estrategia cubana para enfrentar la nueva enfermedad, en que se hace hincapié el protocolo de atención, por lo cual el aislamiento social es esencial para contener la enfermedad y, por lo tanto, de responsabilidad y ejecución del Sistema Nacional de Salud. La estrategia cubana para sobrellevar la enfermedad, la valorización de la vida humana y la solidaridad solamente son posibles frente a las instituciones y valores de una sociedad socialista, lo que, por lo tanto, nos lleva a revalidar el socialismo como la única opción posible para el futuro de la humanidad.O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar as condições objetivas anteriores à pandemia causada pela COVID-19 que facilitaram ou dificultaram o enfrentamento desta doença em Cuba. Para isso, será descrita a estratégia cubana para enfrentar a nova doença, enfatizando que no protocolo de atendimento, o isolamento social é a etapa essencial para contenção da doença e, portanto, de responsabilidade e execução do Sistema de Saúde Nacional.
