Systemic crisis and the consolidation of US global power: determinants and characteristics of post-1970s US structural power

Resumo: This article links the systemic crisis of the 1970s to the consolidation of US global power. First, we will argue that the crisis of the decade is not due to the supposed crisis of US hegemony, but to the latent antagonism between the relative autonomy of the National States and economic transnationalization – a by-product of the pattern of organization of the world economy led by the United States in the postwar period. Additionally, we will defend that the forwarding of the systemic crisis consolidated the structuring parameters of its interstate power – security/violence, currency/finance, production/technology – and inaugurated the era of the structural crisis of capital.

Primero, argumentaremos que la crisis de la década no se debe a la supuesta crisis de la hegemonía estadounidense, sino al antagonismo latente entre la autonomía relativa de los Estados Nacionales y la transnacionalización económica, un subproducto del patrón de organización de la economía mundial liderada por Estados Unidos en la posguerra. Adicionalmente, defenderemos que el manejo de la crisis sistémica consolidó los parámetros estructurales de su poder interestatal - seguridad/violencia, moneda/finanzas, producción/tecnología - e inauguró la era de la crisis estructural del capital.Este artigo relaciona a crise sistêmica da década de 1970 à consolidação do poder global estadunidense. Primeiramente, argumentaremos que a crise da década não se deve à suposta crise de hegemonia estadunidense, mas ao antagonismo latente entre a autonomia relativa dos Estados Nacionais e a transnacionalização econômica – subproduto do padrão de organização da economia mundial liderado pelos Estados Unidos no pós-guerra.
