Resumo: On October 18, 2019, the largest popular revolt in the history of Chile took place. A resounding popular response after more than 40 years of neoliberal policies, that turned Chile into a neoliberal laboratory that began in Chile and spread it to the rest of Latin America, generating structural reforms in the entire system of life. The public education system was fragmented andatomised, transforming the role of the state from a guarantor of rights to a subsidiary role. Faced with this situation, it has been the social movements, and in particular the student sector, who have been the driving the force behind themost forceful mobilisations and who have put forward proposals that lead to fundamental transformations in the education system and the system of life in Chile.
