Resumo: The theses of Foucault on the constitution of the device of sexuality are based on a twofold critique — historic and methodologic — on the repressive hipothesis of sexuality. It is a positive conception of power that intends to dissociate domination and repression. From Foucault's ideas on sexuality and power, the present article tries to establish a comparison between his conception and those of afferent marxist authors like Marcuse, Adorno (who are indentifted which the Frankfurt School) and Pier Paolo Pasolini. We maintain that the contributions of these authors are of a different nature from that of Foucaults theses on productivity and power and, at the same time, overcome the limits set up by the repressive hypothesis.

Trata-se de uma concepção positiva de poder que pretende dissociar dominação e repressão. A partir das idéias de Foucault sobre sexualidade e poder, o artigo procura estabelecer um contraponto entre suas concepções easde diferentes autores do campo marxista, como Marcuse e Adorno (identificados com a Escola de Frankfurt) e Pier Paolo Pasotini.
