Resumo: | The present work analyzes two representations about Ensign Joaquim José da Silva Xavier present in the History Textbooks (Mosaico Project 8th year), from a perspective of the images of violence. The article deals with two oil paintings: Martírio de Tiradentes , by Aurelio de Figueiredo e Melo (1893) and Alferes Joaquim José da Silva Xavier, Tiradentes (1940) and seeks to identify to what extent these works reinforce the ideological discourse and the imaginary about the Inconfidência Mineira. The approach on the subject is subdivided into two parts: at first, violence is discussed as an artifact of power; and in a second topic, analyzes the Inconfidence or the Mining Conjuration in its visual representations, observing Tiradentes beyond the hero and myth, also verifying the interference of these imaginaries in the interpreting student of the historical fact. |

Em uma de suas seções interessam as diferentes imagens da representação de Tiradentes – considerado herói nacional: as obras “Martírio de Tiradentes”, de Aurélio de Figueiredo e Melo (1893) e “Alferes Joaquim José da Silva Xavier, o Tiradentes” (1940), ambas pinturas à óleo. A análise que se apresenta sobre essa temática consiste em alvo de um trabalho de pesquisa em andamento, cujo objetivo consiste em analisar as imagens expressas nos livros didáticos de História a respeito da representação de Tiradentes, conforme a maneira como os artistas as retrataram. Para tanto, foi utilizada uma metodologia de análise pautada na revisão bibliográfica sobre violência, no uso dos conceitos fundamentados por Hannan Arendt (1969-1970) e Nilo Odalia (2012); das imagens, Lucia Santaella (2012), Elias Thomé Saliba (2011); do Livro didático, Circe Bittencourt (2017); Construção e representação do mito, José Murilo de Carvalho (1990).
