Resumo: This article will debate the binding manual as a source of research, presenting the Methodical Series of Crafts, a methodology used by the Industrial Learning Service – SENAI, for the production of its manuals, in the 1950s. a brief characterization of the manuals, and presented the list of the set of publications, which together form a network of documents. The Methodical Series of Crafts and their definition of the concepts of technique and technology will also be contextualized, in addition to this approach within the field of the history of science.

For this, it provides a brief characterization of the manuals , presents the set of publications of the research carried out, which together form a network of documents, as well as a brief debate on the concepts of technique and technology, present in the methodology of the Methodical Series. In the considerations, possible developments in the research of textbooks are exposed, as in the study of terminology, controlled vocabulary, in addition to a reflection on the tradition of teaching the craft in Brazil.O artigo apresenta o manual de encadernação como fonte de pesquisa, apontando as Séries Metódicas de Ofícios, metodologia utilizada pelo Serviço de Aprendizagem Industrial – SENAI, para a produção de seus manuais, na década de 1950. Para isso, traz uma breve caracterização dos manuais, apresenta o conjunto de publicações da pesquisa realizada, que juntos formam uma rede de documentos, além de um breve debate a respeito dos conceitos de técnica e tecnologia, presente na metodologia das Séries Metódicas.
