Authoritarianism and Centralization:: the National Federation Proposal in the Draft Project of the Itamaraty’s Committee

Resumo: The early years of the 1930s were characterized by changes in the Brazilian political field, not only due to the events that ended the First Republic, but also because of the of changings in institutions and in political thinking. The drafting of a new constitution is part of this period, an act effectively started in 1932 with the Itamaraty’s Committee, a group brought together with the mission of creating a preliminary draft for the discussions of the next Charter. During committee sessions, it is possible to identify political ideas and projects. Thus, the purpose of this article is to give a clear outline to the proposals that sought greater centralization of power in the figure of the executive, in addition to the imagery about the events of the First Republic.

É parte desse período a elaboração de uma nova constituição, ato que foi efetivamente iniciado em 1932 com a criação da Comissão do Itamaraty. O grupo se reuniu com a missão de criar um anteprojeto para as discussões da próxima Carta. Durante as sessões da comissão, é possível identificar ideias e projetos políticos.
