The southern region of Minas Gerais is known for its large coffee production, it is also one of the largest vegetable producers in Brazil. In recent years, with the need for a differential in production to meet the consumer market, many producers have opted for the organic production of vegetables. The objective of this research was to record, analyze and relate variables that characterize associations of certified organic producers in the southern region of Minas Gerais. Data collection was done at the central of the associations of organic producers of the South of Minas Gerais, from November 2018 to March 2019. The study was carried out in the associations that is based in São Lourenço, Ouro Fino, Maria da Fé, Poço Fundo, Campo do Meio, Brasópolis, Pedralva, Pouso Alegre, Três Pontas, Córrego do Bom Jesus, Lambari, Sapucaí Mirim and Caldas, all located in the south of Minas Gerais. A representative sample of 96 producers was used, which are part of 12 associations registered in the organization of organic producers. It was concluded with the research that most organic vegetable producers in the southern region of Minas Gerais are older than 30 years and own their areas. The associations ECOMINAS, ABAL and OAV are those that encompass the largest areas of organic production. Organic crops with the highest yield are tomato, yam, potatoes, sweet potatoes and lettuce, and the most commonly used form of marketing is direct sales to consumers.
