Resumo: Benthic invertebrate communities presentin the environment may indicate the influence of the environment al impacts caused by human activities. Some species of the Oligochaeta Class are considered efficient bioindicators for evaluation of organic pollution of the water. Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate water quality in two springs (Tanquinho Stream and Caixa D’água Stream) located in the urban perimeter of the city of Araraquara-SP throughth estudy of oligofauna. The samples were collected in March and April 2017. Samples were collected at three points from each source with a "D" type sampler (250 μm). The oligofauna triaged in the laboratory was fixed in 10% formalin and, after, identified up to the taxonomic level of species. Additionally, physicochemical variables of the springs were measured in the field (pH, water temperature, electrical conductivity, dissolved oxygen and total solids dissolved). The identification of the oligofauna revealed a total of 280 organisms distributed in 19 taxa. Fourteen species belonging to four families were identified: Alluroididae, Enchytraeidae, Naididae and Tubificidae. Both springs had close values for the environmental variables, however, electrical conductivity and total dissolved solids suggested a representative differentiation in the obtained values. In conclusion, the NCD point presented a precise degree of impact, evidencing a punctual degradation process of the medium, while, the sum of the analyzes performed for the NT point showed that it does not present a significant stage of pollution.
