The ethos and its related notions: discourse analysis of the government leader in the parliamentary session before the AI-5

Resumo: In this article, we present a reflection about the appropriation of the rhetorical ethos by discourse analysis, claiming certain enunciative characteristics of this notion in the process of adaptation to a contemporary theory. From Amossy (2005 [1999]), Haddad (2005 [1999]) and Maingueneau (2005 [1999]), we discuss the related notions of ethos: anti-ethos, incorporation of ethos, previous and pre-discursive ethos. Thus, based on Maingueneau's theoretical framework (1997 [1987]; 2005 [1999]; 2008), Alexandrescu's (1976) studies on epistemic modalities and Bakhtin/Volochinov's (2002) postulates on quoted discourse, we analyzed the discursive ethos built on the pronouncement of Deputy Geraldo Freire (ARENA/MG), leader of the government in the Chamber of Deputies during the deliberative session of December 12, 1968, whose vote marked the history of Brazilian politics by becoming the pretext for the regime dictatorial act promulgate Institutional Act nº 5.

En este artículo, presentamos una reflexión sobre la apropiación del ethos retórico mediante el análisis del discurso, afirmando ciertas características enunciativas de esta noción en el proceso de adaptación a una teoría contemporánea. De Amossy (2005 [1999]), Haddad (2005 [1999]) y Maingueneau (2005 [1999]), discutimos las nociones relacionadas de ethos: anti-ethos, incorporación de ethos, ethos previo y precursivo. Así, con base en el marco teórico de Maingueneau (1997 [1987]; 2005 [1999]; 2008), los estudios de Alexandrescu (1976) sobre modalidades epistémicas y los postulados de Bakhtin/Volochinov (2002) sobre el discurso citado, analizamos El espíritu discursivo construido sobre el pronunciamiento del diputado Geraldo Freire (ARENA/MG), líder del gobierno en la Cámara de Diputados durante la sesión deliberativa del 12 de diciembre de 1968, cuyo voto marcó la historia de la política brasileña al convertirse en el pretexto para el régimen. Ley dictatorial promulgar Ley Institucional nº 5.Neste artigo, apresentamos uma reflexão acerca da apropriação do ethos retórico pela análise do discurso, reivindicando certas características enunciativas dessa noção no processo de adaptação a uma teoria contemporânea. A partir de Amossy (2005 [1999]), Haddad (2005 [1999]) e Maingueneau (2005 [1999]), discutimos as noções conexas do ethos: anti-ethos, incorporação do ethos, ethos prévio e pré-discursivo.
