Resumo: | This article aims to use some important categories to analyze the documentary Shoah, directed by Claude Lanzmann and released in theaters in 1985. The film is guided by interviews conducted by the french documentary filmmaker with people belonging to the three subjective categories, who are part of the triad - victims, perpetrators and bystanders - discussed by the american historian Raul Hilberg. Although the film summons interviewees who participate in the three categories, our article will privilege those who belong to the condition of victims. What we will observe is the existing relation between the filmic enunciation guided by the remembrance of trauma, next to the categories of melancholy and grief. We will discuss whether survivors, interviewed by Lanzmann, can be thought of as melancholic subjects, triggering a subjective category worked by Giorgio Agamben (2008), namely the Muselmann. In addition, we will problematize the existing equation between the work of perlaboration and the working of the past, taking as a starting point the activation of the duty of transmission of the returnees. |
