Resumo: The purpose of this article is to use the press of the time and archives of official documents, to examine the different ways in which the hetero-military dictatorship imposed in 1964 sought to directly or indirectlypressure the newspaper “Lampião da Esquina” and its publishers. Besides the repressive measures, it also analyzes the forms of reaction and resistance that were undertaken, allowing a better understanding of the exogenous and endogenous causes that led to the newspaper’s demise in 1981.

Además de las medidas represivas, también se pretende analizar las formas de reacción y resistencia que se promovieron, permitiendo una mejor comprensión de las causas exógenas y endógenas que llevaron al fin del periódico en 1981.No presente artigo, o intuito é examinar, a partir de registros históricos, imprensa da época e acervos de documentação oficial, os diferentes modos como a ditadura hetero-militar de 1964 tentou afetar, direta ou indiretamente, o jornal “Lampião da Esquina” e seus editores.
